About Baumann Lumber
The Baumann Lumber Story
For Archie Baumann, demolition was a time-consuming first step for his next construction project. But for his son Jedrey, it was a dream job. At the going rate of $2.50 per hour, 12-year-old Jedrey Bauman landed his first contracting job doing demo work.
He wielded his hammer and hauled debris all week. By Friday, he’d earned $100, which he happily spent at the Mobridge Beef and Fun Days.
Twenty years later, Archie Baumann opened Baumann Lumber to acquire building materials for his general contracting business. Since 1996, Baumann Lumber has been a regional supplier of building materials in the Pierre and Fort Pierre areas.
Today, Jedrey and his sister Larissa Freeman are co-owners of Baumann lumber. Together they run the family-owned business with locations in Fort Pierre and Redfield. The company has grown from two people to 12 knowledgeable professionals who are experienced in the construction industry. Collectively they have over 150 years of experience building in South Dakota and the surrounding states.
Baumann Lumber continues to offer building products for every facet of construction and personal attention for every customer, from commercial contractors to the homeowner with a weekend project.
